Rui Miguel Ramos Pereira was born in Lisbon in 1977 and started to study music at the Hot Clube de Lisboa in 1999, having drum lesson with Bruno Pedroso for four years. He started playing pop and rock music but his main activities were in jazz music. In 2003 he participated in the first national youth big band in Portugal, right before he moved to Amsterdam to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with teachers Martijn Vink and Marcel Serierse.
At the moment he is dividing his time between Amsterdam and Lisbon, participating in different projects, like Trioism (acoustic jazz), Yeti project (Nu-Jazz), Trisonte (experimental), 3Park (electronic, improvised music), Equal4 (jazz-rock) etc.
